US Patent and Trademark Office has issued Cloud Privacy Labs the patent 11366912 for the company’s technology Context-Aware Consent Management and Data Filtering System. With this allowance Cloud Privacy Labs is the only company with a patent for technology that offers a domain agnostic consent decision service incorporating context into data access and data exchange.

Many consent systems on the market are tailored to a specific environment and generally only attempt to make coarse distinctions concerning access to or use of data. As a result, these systems are expensive and time-consuming to implement and risk over or under inclusion of critical data.

A context-aware consent management system makes consent decisions by taking user choices and the active context into account, and determines what parts of the data can be used or exchanged with given recipients. Combined with the company’s SmartConsentⓇ technology, this system enables privacy conscious data exchange where data elements are filtered or masked based on organizational policies, end user consent, and the context. This domain agnostic consent decision and data filtering system adapts to a wide variety of consent application environments.
